The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Direct-Drive Bevel Gear Mechanism for Precision Control of Inlet Guide Vanes (IGVs) in centrifugal compressors. The mechanism comprises a stepper motor (104) directly coupled through a shaft coupling (108) to a primary bevel gear (102), which engages with a secondary bevel gear (103) forming a bevel gear assembly (102, 103). The assembly transmits synchronized rotational motion to multiple inlet guide vanes (101) for precise and backlash-free angular adjustment. The system is mounted on a support frame (109) and stabilized by bearings (107) and an end plate (106) to ensure smooth torque transmission and alignment under operational loads. Fasteners (105) secure all components into a compact configuration. The direct-drive arrangement eliminates worm gears, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, providing energy-efficient, low-maintenance, and reliable control of airflow within centrifugal compressors while maintaining accurate vane positioning through the motor’s inherent holding torque.
