MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541026101 A) filed by Maruvajala Vidyavathi; and Perabathina Venkata Satya Kavya on March 21, 2025, for Dipyridamole Microspheres For Controlled Drug Release And Methodof Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Maruvajala Vidyavathi; and Perabathina Venkata Satya Kavya.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of controlled-release Dipyridamole microspheres utilizing Musa paradisiaca stem mucilage for the first time in combination with chitosan, to enhance drug entrapment efficiency, stability, and sustained release. Dipyridamole, a nucleoside transport and PDE3 inhibitor used for thrombosis prevention, exhibits poor solubility and a short half-life, necessitating frequent dosing. This invention overcomes these limitations by employing an emulsion cross-linking technique to formulate Dipyridamole microspheres with optimized drug release kinetics. The resulting microspheres exhibit high encapsulation efficiency, improved bioavailability, and controlled release as evidenced by in vitro dissolution studies and mathematical modeling. This eco-friendly, cost-effective approach offers a scalable and commercially viable solution for improving Dipyridamole therapy and patient compliance.
