Abstract: ABSTRACT DIMERIC COPPER(I) N-HETEROCYCLIC CARBENE (CU(I)-NHC) COMPLEX AND THE METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF The present invention discloses a dimeric copper(I) N-heterocyclic carbene (Cu(I)-NHC) complex of formula [(CuI)2L2], wherein L is 1-benzyl-3-(2-pyridylmethyl)-4,5-diphenylimidazolium bromide. The complex is synthesized through a rapid and facile one-pot reflux process involving the reaction of the ligand precursor with copper(I) iodide. The complex exhibits intense bluish-green emission centered at 490 nm and demonstrates an exceptionally high solid-state photoluminescence quantum yield of 95% at room temperature(300 K). Fig. 1
