Abstract: Smart IoT environments generate continuous, heterogeneous, and often redundant sensor data, while conventional monitoring systems remain largely reactive. This paper proposes a digital twin framework that combines synchronized asset representation with correlation-aware predictive analytics. The architecture includes physical, edge-connectivity, twin-core, predictive-intelligence, and decision layers. An adaptive feature-gating mechanism activates additional sensor channels only when they provide sufficient information gain. The framework is evaluated using the public Intel Berkeley Research Lab dataset containing 54 sensor motes. Results show that the crossover-aware fusion policy reduces mean classification error by 2.95% compared with a fixed single-sensor model and by 4.66% compared with always-on two-sensor fusion. The findings demonstrate that sensor correlation, synchronization quality, prediction confidence, and model maturity should jointly guide data fusion and alert prioritization. The framework is platform-independent and suitable for scalable predictive monitoring in smart IoT environments.
