MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611100396 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Ropar on August 19, 2026, for Digital Twin-Enabled Artificial Intelligence-Based Proactive Beam Alignment System And Method.
Inventors include Dr. Ashwani Sharma; and Aditya Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for Digital Twin (DT)-enabled, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based location-aware beam alignment are disclosed for cell-based, heterogeneous, standalone, and non-standalone 5G or 6G wireless networks. The system comprises network entities including radio access nodes (112), access points, roadside units, and user equipment (110) or onboard units (114) for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) scenarios. Real-world beam measurements acquired at strategically selected communication locations calibrate a Digital Twin system (116, 301), which generates communication information for spatial locations where measurements are unavailable or insufficient. The real-world measurements and Digital Twin-generated information are combined to generate a Hybrid Beam Fingerprint Dataset stored in a beam fingerprint database (202). An AI inference module (117, 203) processes the Hybrid Beam Fingerprint Dataset with location, mobility, orientation, and route- map information to determine candidate transmit and receive beam pairs for beam alignment, beam switching, initial access, handover, and proactive beam management.
