MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611062956 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi on May 18, 2026, for Digital-Learning Device And Method For Generating Spike-Timing-Dependent Plasticity Weight Update Value Of Synapse.
Inventor includes Sivasubramani, Santhosh.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Method (700) and digital-learning device (110) for generating spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) weight update value for synapse are disclosed. Method includes receiving (702) pre and post-synaptic spike signal associated with input event. Method includes synchronizing (704) pre and post-synaptic spike signal with system clock to generate synchronized pre-synaptic and synchronized post-synaptic event. Method includes capturing (706) pre and post-synaptic timestamp based on timing reference and respective one of synchronized pre-synaptic event and synchronized post-synaptic event. Method includes determining (708) time- difference value by subtracting pre-synaptic timestamp from post-synaptic timestamp. Method includes classifying (710) the time- difference value into potentiation and depression conditions based on sign of time-difference value. Method includes determining (712) update index based on time-difference value and classification. Method includes retrieving (714) store long-term potentiation and long-term depression entries as base update values based on update index from programmable storage structure. Method includes generating (716) STDP weight update value.
