MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106617 A) filed by Palamuru University on September 04, 2026, for Diastereoselective Trans 2, 3-Dihydrobenzofuran Derivatives: Catalyzed By Lewis Acid, Aqueous Mediated Tandem Synthesis.

Inventors include Dr. Vijaya Laxmi Somarapu; and Anshra Nousheen.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: A library of novel fused 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran derivatives were synthesized by using catalytical amount of lewis acid (AIC13) in aqueous medium through Knoevenagel condensation, Michael addition and followed by intramolecular cyclization. This environmental friendly synthetic procedure come up with excellent cascade reaction involves conversion of various aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes with 1,3-cyclohexadione or dimedone into diastereoselective trans 2,3- dihydrobenzofuran derivatives with high yields in green and potent way. The synthesized compounds were distinguished by 1H/13C NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry
