The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT DEVICE WITH A MOVABLE SENSOR FOR DETERMINING REAL-TIME WATER STRESS IN PLANTS AND METHOD THEREOF The present invention relates to a portable, handheld device (200) with a movable robotic arm (207) designed for assessing the water stress of plants. This device (200) is equipped with an infrared sensor (IR) (205), attached to the free end of a rotatable robotic arm (207), which measures the surface temperature of a leaf of a plant, to determine the Crop Water Stress Index (CWSI) of that plant. Comparison of the calculated CWSI value of the plant with its threshold CWSI value enables real time monitoring of the water requirement of plants. The present invention provides a cost-effective device, with a single IR sensor for detecting the water requirement of crops, eliminating the need of multiple parameters for CWSI calculation. This device (200) aids in scheduled and targeted irrigation, to increase the yield of agricultural crops and promotes sustainable agricultural practices.
