Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some aspects, one or more wireless entities may generate and/or exchange signaling related to a local identifier (ID) associated with an ambient Internet of Things (A-IoT) device. In some implementations, the one or more wireless entities may communicate one or more messages in accordance with the generated local ID. A wireless entity that generates the local ID may store a mapping between a permanent ID associated with the A-IoT device and the local ID. A wireless entity that generates the local ID may inform one or more other wireless entities of the generated local ID. Various further aspects relate to one or more mechanisms according to which one or more wireless entities may generate a local ID, update a local ID, or release a local ID, among other aspects.
