MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641109743 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on September 12, 2026, for Device For Sleep Monitoring And Adaptive Wake-Up Control.

Inventors include Ramakrishnan Ilanghovan; Sushindh Anandan; K. P. Vijayakumar; and K. Pradeep.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a device for sleep monitoring and adaptive wake-up control. The device comprises a radar sensing unit that generates respiration data and body movement data in a contactless manner, and a physiological sensing unit that generates heart rate variability data and skin temperature data of a user. A control unit including a processor and a memory stores instructions which, when executed, cause the processor to receive the data and combine the received data to generate fused sensor data representative of physiological and movement characteristics of a user. The control unit determines sleep stage information using a learning model and identifies a wake-up time window based on the sleep stage information. A control signal is generated using an interface unit to initiate a wake-up routine corresponding to the wake-up time window. The device enables improved sleep stage detection and adaptive wake-up through integrated multi-modal sensing and on- device processing.
