MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641084152 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on July 08, 2026, for Device For Detection And Mitigation Of Pathogens And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Sahaya Beni Prathiba; Kalyanasundaram V; Keerthi Aj; and Yuvan Shankar Babu K.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a device (100) and a method (200) for detection and mitigation of a plurality of pathogens from environmental samples is disclosed. The device (100) includes a sensing chamber (102) receiving samples from air, water, or surface. A sensor array (104) includes a diagnostic unit (104-1) detecting DNA and RNA sequences based on nucleic acid hybridization. A signal transduction unit (106) converts detection events into measurable signals. A pathogen mitigation unit (108) includes biological, chemical, or physical mitigation units for neutralization of pathogens. A processing unit (110) with a processor (110-1) and a memory (110-2) processes received signals, determines presence of pathogens, generates a threat assessment using a trained Machine Learning model (110-3), and actuates at least one mitigation unit based on the threat assessment.
