MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411088968 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on November 18, 2024, for Device For Cooling A Busbar Of An Electric Vehicle.
Inventors include Sunanda Medapati; Ranjith Prakash; Prasanna Godbole; and Sujith Stephen.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: A device (200) for a busbar (102) in an electric vehicle is disclosed, the busbar connects a charging port (104) of a vehicle to a battery (106) and carries charging current. The device (200) includes one or more heat pipes (204) thermally coupled to the busbar (102 ) at one end (206), where a working fluid within the heat pipe (204) evaporates upon receiving heat from the busbar (102), effectively cooling the busbar (102). An opposite end (208) of the heat pipe (204) includes a heatsink (212) that allows vaporized fluid to cool and condense back to original state. The heat pipe (204) is housed within an enclosure (220), which may include a slot for the busbar (102) to pass through, ensuring thermal coupling via thermally conductive-electrically insulated paste.
