Abstract: A device for construction hazard awareness and protection, comprising an expandable head-wearable member 101 includes a dual-shell assembly adapted to be worn by a construction worker, a multi microphone acoustic sensing array 102 mounted around the member 101 synchronized with an artificial intelligence (AI) based sound recognition and risk prioritisation module to detect and classify construction site critical sound events, a plurality of vibrating units 201 comprising linear resonant actuators integrated with an inner shell of the member 101 to provide directional haptic alerts, a projection unit 103 with ball-and-socket joint 104 to provide targeted visual alerts, a plurality of pneumatic bladders 202 arranged in the member 101 for generating tactile alerts, and an array of impact sensors 105 to detect rapid deceleration or sudden force, an magnetorheological (MR) fluid damping slab 203 for absorbing impact energy from construction debris.
