Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GENERATING SIMULATED MICROGRAVITY FOR A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE A device (100) for generating simulated microgravity for a biological sample includes a first frame (104) rotatable about a first rotational axis, a second frame (106) rotatable about a second rotational axis, and a sample mount (108) coupled to the second frame (106) and configured to hold the biological sample. A first drive unit (202) rotates the first frame (104) and a second drive unit (116) rotates the second frame (116). Position sensing units generate angular position feedback. A processor (304) generates a motion parameter set comprising rotation speed, rotation direction, and run duration, drives the drive units (202, 116) based on the motion parameter set, determines actual rotation speed from the angular position feedback, determines a deviation, controls rotation based on the deviation, and regenerates the motion parameter set upon expiry of the run duration to successively reorient the sample mount (106) for generating simulated microgravity.
