MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641059588 A) filed by Saveetha Engineering College on May 11, 2026, for Development Of Rgo Based Interfacial Chemical Layers For High-Efficiency Flexible Solar Cells.

Inventor includes Dr. Vinothkumar Panjanathan.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: Abstract A reduced graphene oxide (rGO) integrated chemical interfacial layer was developed to improve the performance of flexible solar cells. The incorporation of rGO enhanced electrical conductivity, charge carrier mobility, and interfacial charge transfer, leading to improved photovoltaic properties. The fabricated device exhibited a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.7%, compared to 14.9% for the pristine cell. The short-circuit current density increased from 19.8 to 24.6 mA cm-2, while the fill factor improved from 0.61 to 0.74 due to reduced charge recombination and enhanced electron transport. Morphological studies confirmed the formation of a uniform conductive network with improved film homogeneity. Electrochemical impedance analysis showed a reduction in charge transfer resistance from 142 Q to 68 Q after rGO incorporation. The flexible device retained 91% of its initial efficiency after 1000 bending cycles, demonstrating excellent mechanical stability. The improved photovoltaic performance is attributed to the high conductivity, large surface area, and efficient interfacial interaction of rGO nanosheets, making them promising materials for next- generation flexible photovoltaic applications.
