MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611057944 A) filed by Chandigarh University on May 07, 2026, for Development Of Plant-Based Polyherbal Tablets As Supportive Therapy For Snakebite Envenomation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a standardized polyherbal pharmaceutical composition formulated as an oral tablet comprising extracts of Rauvolfia serpentina, Aristolochia indica, Hemidesmus indicus, Annona squamosa, Cassia angustifolia, Gymnema sylvestre, and Ocimum sanctum. The selected plant extracts contain bioactive phytochemicals including alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolic compounds, and terpenoids that collectively exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, enzyme-inhibitory, and membrane-stabilizing properties. The extracts are combined with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients such as binders, diluents, disintegrants, and lubricants to form a stable tablet dosage form having a total weight ranging from about 250 mg to 500 mg. The formulation is prepared using standardized extraction and tablet compression techniques to ensure reproducibility, stability, and uniform distribution of active constituents.
