The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an eco-friendly, biodegradable, and fish-edible disposable cup manufactured from fermented wheat straw (Triticum aestivum) combined with a four-component natural biopolymer binder system and externally coated with a beeswax-pine resin composite waterproofing layer. Wheat straw, an abundantly available lignocellulosic agricultural by-product predominantly disposed of through open-field burning, is processed through steam sterilization, lactic acid bacterial fermentation using curd-derived culture at 25–30°C for five to seven days, controlled oven-drying, and blending with potato starch, corn starch, gelatin, and guar gum to form a moldable composite dough. Thermal compression molding yields a structurally stable cup of 150–200 ml capacity with a compressive strength of approximately 6.14 kg, which is dried and dip-coated in molten 60:40 beeswax-pine resin to achieve water resistance at temperatures up to 60°C. Fourteen-day fish edibility trials confirm non-toxicity, normal feeding behavior, and absence of adverse physiological effects. The cup achieves 63.4% biodegradation in wet soil within fifteen days, with carbon emissions 50–70% lower than conventional plastic cups and a waste diversion rate of 90–95%. The invention delivers a viable, circular- economy-aligned, and commercially feasible solution for sustainable food packaging and aquaculture feeding systems, valorizing agricultural waste while eliminating microplastic contamination risks.
