Abstract: The Device to Obtain Numerical Shade Values for Enamel and Dentin for Objective Tooth Shade Matching is designed to improve accuracy in dental restorations. In dentistry, selecting the correct tooth shade is very important for achieving natural-looking results. However, traditional methods rely on visual comparison using shade guides, which can be affected by lighting conditions and human perception. This often leads to inconsistent and inaccurate shade matching. This project aims to solve this problem by introducing a digital and objective method for tooth shade analysis. The device uses an optical colour sensor along with a controlled LED light source to capture the reflected light from the tooth surface. It continuously analyses the colour information and detects variations in enamel and dentin shades. When a measurement is taken, the system processes the data using a microcontroller and converts it into numerical values such as G*, R*, and B*. These values are then displayed on a digital screen, allowing dentists to make accurate and reliable shade selection decisions. The system is compact, portable, and easy to use in clinical environments. All electronic components are safely enclosed in a handheld device without affecting usability. This device reduces the influence of lighting conditions and operator bias, ensuring consistent and repeatable results. Overall, the project provides a simple, efficient, and cost-effective solution for improving the quality and accuracy of tooth shade matching in restorative dentistry.
