Abstract: The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental pollution, with a significant amount of textile accessories and trims being discarded as non-biodegradable waste. In response to this challenge, the concept of seed infused buttons has been developed as a sustainable and innovative approach to reduce waste and encourage environmental restoration. These buttons are produced using natural, biodegradable materials such as sawdust and tree gum into which selected plant seeds are embedded. Unlike conventional plastic or metal buttons, seed infused buttons have a dual purpose-first serving as a functional fastening accessory for gannents, and later, after their use, transforming into a medium for plant growth. When disposed of or intentionally planted in soil, the button naturally decomposes, releasing the seeds which then germinate under suitable conditions. This process not only reduces landfill accumulation but also promotes urban greening and ecological balance. Careful consideration is given to the choice of seeds, focusing on fast-germinating and lowmaintenance species such as Amaranthus dubius (spleen amaranth) that offer both ecological and nutritional benefits. The project also explores design aesthetics, durability, and manufacturing techniques to ensure that the buttons maintain their strength, texture, and visual appeal while remaining completely biodegradable. The research highlights the potential of seed infused buttons in promoting circular fashion, where waste is-reintegrated into natural cycles instead of being discarded. By merging functionality, sustainability, and design innovation, this project positions seed infused buttons as a practical solution for ceo- conscious consumers and designers. It demonstrates how a small accessory can inspire a larger movement towards sustainable fashion practices, encourage afforestation, and create a greener future.
