MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541022977 A) filed by Venkatesan S P; Jerome Reuben R; and Henin Ricky E on March 14, 2025, for Development Of Ambulance Drone For Medical Services.
Inventors include Venkatesan S P; Jerome Reuben R; and Henin Ricky E.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a drone-based ambulance system that integrates an ESP32 microcontroller with medical sensors to provide real-time patient monitoring and emergency medical response. The system is designed to overcome delays caused by traffic congestion and inaccessible accident sites by enabling rapid deployment of a drone equipped with temperature, pulse, respiration, and eye-blink rate sensors, along with an ESP32-based camera for live patient assessment. The collected physiological data is processed onboard and transmitted wirelessly to an loT cloud platform (Thing Speak), allowing medical professionals to access real-time patient vitals remotely. Unlike traditional emergency response systems, which rely on manual communication and delayed hospital preparedness, this invention provides an automated, data-driven approach to pre-hospital care. The drone is manually controlled and features a modular sensor integration system, allowing for customization based on emergency requirements. The wireless communication protocols employed (Wi-Fi or internet) ensure continuous data transmission, even in remote areas. The ESP32 microcontroller processes sensor inputs in real time, while an adaptive flight stabilization mechanism ensures steady monitoring during transit. The invention is designed for scalability and adaptability, making it applicable in various emergency scenarios, including accidents, medical crises in remote areas, and natural disaster response. The system also supports automated alerts and notifications, ensuring rapid decision-making by first responders. Additionally, by providing continuous monitoring and early medical assessment, hospitals and ambulances can be better prepared before a patient's arrival, reducing response times and improving patient outcomes. This invention represents a novel integration of loT, drone technology, and real-time health monitoring, offering a cost- ·effective, efficient, and scalable solution for modern emergency healthcare services. The combination of real-time sensor feedback, cloudbased data storage, and drone- assisted emergency response ensures an optimized, lifesaving intervention system that can significantly reduce fatalities caused by delayed medical assistance.
