Abstract: Abstract The present invention discloses an Aloe Vera-PVA based Mg2+ ion conducting biopolymer membrane developed for electrochemical sensor applications. The membrane is prepared using an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution casting method involving Aloe Vera extract, Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), and magnesium salt. The developed membrane exhibits enhanced ionic conductivity, flexibility, biodegradability, electrochemical stability, and mechanical strength suitable for advanced sensing applications. Aloe Vera acts as a natural biopolymer additive containing hydroxyl and polysaccharide functional groups that improve ion transport and membrane flexibility. Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) serves as the polymer host matrix providing good film-forming ability, transparency, and mechanical stability. Magnesium ions function as charge carriers and enhance ionic conductivity within the polymer electrolyte system. The interaction between Aloe Vera, PVA, and Mg2+ ions result in improved electrochemical and sensing performance. The prepared membrane is fabricated through continuous magnetic stirring followed by solution casting and controlled drying to obtain uniform flexible electrolyte films. The developed membrane demonstrates good electrochemical response, thermal stability, flexibility, and environmental compatibility. Structural and electrochemical characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and electrochemical impedance analysis are used to evaluate the membrane properties. The developed biopolymer membrane is suitable for electrochemical sensors, wearable healthcare devices, biomedical monitoring systems, flexible electronics, and environmental sensing applications. The invention provides a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional synthetic polymer electrolytes used in electrochemical sensing technologies. The membrane also exhibits improved sensing efficiency, stable ionic transport behavior, and good mechanical durability suitable for next-generation flexible electrochemical sensor applications in biomedical and healthcare fields.
