MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641085359 A) filed by Sri Eshwar College Of Engineering on July 11, 2026, for Development Of A Pressure Measurement System Using Multiple Sensors For Spinal Orthoses.

Inventors include Dr. L. Priya; Kapil Kumarash V; Vishal Inesh A B; and Anbuselvan N.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The Spine Pressure Measurement System called as Spinobar is a continuous real time spine pressure monitoring system. An Orthotist is an orthotic designer to fabricate orthoses with proper fitting. Spinal orthoses are designed to adjust the spine brace to provide corrective forces on spine pressure points. Orthotic designers find it difficult to design braces using only X-ray images, as they provide limited information about patient discomfort, compliance, and fitting precision. Existing measurement techniques fail to capture the localized pressure variations, lack the specificity and limitations in clinical orthotic design and patient outcomes. Market available imported systems are expensive and not specific for spinal applications. The proposed system overcome the issues of existing x-ray imaging techniques which does not helpful for real time adjustment of brace for corrective force. It is unsuitable for continuous monitoring of conventional scoliosis assessment methods. The orthosis brace embedded with pressure sensors array and it detect the corrective pressure applied at different contact points between the brace and the patient's body continuously. Ultra-thin Force Sensitive Resistor (FSR) Pressure sensors are used to acquire pressure data which was embedded in spine pressure locations in the brace. ESP32 microcontroller receives the sensor data and it was processed and send to cloud storage using WiFi. Firebase cloud database is synchronized with the WiFi connectivity. Flutter and Dart is used for the development of mobile app and web app of spine analytics dashboard. The entire module is enclosed with the compact 3D printed box which was models using SOLIDWORKS. This box is fabricated using the 3D Printing machine. This will process sensor inputs and displays real time pressure heat maps for precise visualization and adjustment. Clinicians analyze pressure sensor reading for therapy process. Orthotist can able to design the orthotics depends on the pressure data. This pressure data can be displayed as graphical chart, heat maps and numerical values. This data will be useful for the rehabilitation process, physiotherapist and orthotist to optimize the brace fitting and improve healthcare outcomes.
