MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106076 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on September 03, 2026, for Development Of A Needle-Free Wearable Glucose Monitoring Device Using Physiological Signal Modelling.
Inventors include K. Dhivagar; Dr T Sathish; M. Sushmitha; and Dr Ramya Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable, completely needle-free glucose monitoring device that estimates blood glucose concentration using multi-modal physiological signal modeling. The system integrates non-invasive biosensors capable of acquiring parameters such as photoplethysmography (PPG), skin impedance, skin temperature, heart rate variability, and electrodermal activity. These physiological inputs are processed through an embedded microcontroller and analyzed using adaptive signal processing algorithms and machine learning models to predict glucose levels without penetrating the skin. The device is designed as a lightweight wrist- worn module incorporating optical emitters, photodetectors, micro-electrodes, and temperature sensors. The collected raw signals are filtered to remove motion artifacts and environmental noise. A trained predictive model correlates physiological variations with estimated glucose concentration. The processed results are displayed on an integrated screen and optionally transmitted to a mobile application via wireless communication for continuous monitoring and trend analysis. This invention eliminates the discomfort, infection risk, and recurring consumable costs associated with invasive glucose monitoring systems. The wearable design enhances user compliance and enables real-time tracking for diabetic and pre-diabetic individuals. The system also supports data logging, threshold alerts, and cloud integration for remote medical supervision. The proposed solution aims to improve quality of life by offering a painless, portable, and intelligent glucose monitoring alternative.
