Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The present invention discloses a jute fiber-reinforced epoxy composite material incorporating coconut shell powder (CSP) as a particulate filler in concentrations ranging from 1 wt% to 6 wt%. The composite employs epoxy resin LY556 and hardener HY951 (10:1 w/w) as the polymer matrix, with multi-layer jute fiber mats (Corchorus olitorius and/or Corchorus capsularis) as the primary reinforcement, fabricated by the hand lay-up technique. Seven composite formulations are prepared and comprehensively characterized for tensile, flexural, and impact properties per ASTM standards, alongside thermal characterization by DSC and TGA, and morphological analysis by SEM. The formulation containing 3 wt% CSP exhibits optimal mechanical performance with tensile strength of 48.5 MPa, flexural strength of 72.3 MPa, and impact toughness of 8.2 kJ/m². Glass transition temperatures range from 65–74°C. SEM analysis confirms effective fiber-matrix interfacial bonding. The invention provides a sustainable, eco-friendly, cost-effective structural composite suitable for automotive, construction, and consumer applications.
