Abstract: The increasing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly cosmetic products has driven the exploration of natural bioactive ingredients derived from agricultural waste. This study focuses on the development and evaluation of a natural fruit acid exfoliating gel formulated from peel waste of Averrhoa carambola (star fruit). Star fruit peel, often discarded as waste, is a rich source of natural fruit acids, antioxidants, and bioactive compounds that possess exfoliating and skinrenewing properties. In this research, star fruit peels were collected, dried, and subjected to extraction using suitable solvents to obtain fruit acid-rich extracts. The extract was then incorporated into a gel base using appropriate gelling agents to formulate a stable exfoliating product. The prepared gel was evaluated for its physicochemical properties including pH, viscosity, spreadability, and stability under different storage conditions. Further, the exfoliating efficiency and skin compatibility of the formulation were assessed through in vitro and basic dermatological tests. The results indicated that the formulated gel exhibited effective exfoliating action, acceptable stability, and was safe for topical application. The presence of natural acids such as oxalic and citric acid contributed to mild chemical exfoliation, promoting skin rejuvenation. This study demonstrates that Averrhoa carambola peel waste can be successfully utilized as a cost-effective and sustainable raw material in cosmetic formulations, thereby reducing environmental waste while offering a natural alternative to synthetic exfoliating agents.
