The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: Corrosion is a major challenge affecting metallic structures and leading to substantial maintenance costs and ·safety concerns. The degradation process is complex, involving multiple stages such as surface oxidation and pitting. Early and effective protective measures are essential to prevent further deterioration while also considering economic and environmental factors. A novel coating system has been developed using zinc nanoparticles derived from banana peel, integrated into a biodegradable polysaccharide matrix, with linoleic acid extracted from soybean oil as a self" healing agent. The zinc nanomaterials form a durable barrier against corrosive agents, and the :polysaccharide matrix ensures even distribution. and strong adhesion to the metal surface. Linoleic acid, when exposed to moisture or heat, polymerizes at sites of damage to restore the coating's integrity. These components form an integrated formulation that provides an eco-friendly and economical solution to prolong the lifespan of metallic structures. Key words: Corrosion, Zinc nanoparticles, Polysaccharide matrix, Linoleic acid, Self-healing.
