MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631096571 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Patna on August 10, 2026, for Detection And Energy-Conditioned Mitigation Of Denial-Of-Service Attacks In Wireless Sensor Networks.
Inventors include Agrawal, Richa; and Singh, Nidhi.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system (100) and a method (400) for detection and energy-conditioned mitigation of a denial-of-service attack. A set of sensor nodes (102) senses a packet transmission rate, a residual energy, a count of packets delivered, and a count of packets dropped. A traffic evaluation unit (104), an energy evaluation unit (106), and a trust evaluation unit (108) form a deviation score, an energy score, and a trust score, and a detection unit (112) marks an attacked node upon a weighted sum exceeding an adaptive threshold. A mitigation unit (118) selects, upon a residual energy against an energy reference level (122), between an isolation with a reroute and a transition into a sleep state. Unlike conventional detection resting on a fixed threshold and a uniform response, this approach reconciles a reliable detection with an energy conservation across environmental monitoring, industrial, and Internet-of-Things deployments.
