MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064127 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on May 21, 2026, for Design And Implementation Of Road Accident Detection And Alert System Using Iot And Gsm Technology.

Inventors include Parthasarathy D; Sujaysankar V; and Dr. Rajesh V.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: The proposed system consists of an embedded unit with a microcontroller (such as Arduino) that acts as the main processing unit, connected to various sensors and communication modules. It collects data from sensors and runs accident detection algorithms. When an accident is detected, the GNSS (GPS) module obtains the vehicle’s real-time location. The microcontroller processes this data and activates the GSM module to send SMS alerts to emergency services, hospitals, and pre-set contacts. Optional components like buzzers or LEDs can provide local alerts, while the power supply ensures proper functioning of all components. The system is compact, energy-efficient, and easy to install in diverse types of vehicles, including two-wheelers, cars, and commercial fleets.
