MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641033717 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on March 20, 2026, for Design And Implementation Of Analog Pulse Width Modulator (pwm) For Motor Speed Control.

Inventors include Vijay Sriram S; Shriram J; and Dr. Vaishnavi K.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: The invention controls motor speed through pulse width modulation which uses average voltage and current control to power the motor with a switching pulse that maintains its frequency and amplitude constant while its pulse width changes. The pulse waveform's duty cycle controls the motor's power output which results in specific rotational speed. The invention uses an analog control voltage which comes from a variable input source to adjust the PWM signal duty cycle in real time through a constant duty cycle. The system contains an analog waveform generator which creates a reference or carrier signal that produces triangular or sawtooth waveforms through a circuit made of resistors capacitors and operational amplifiers. The carrier waveform continuously undergoes comparison with the analog control voltage through a circuit that uses either comparator or operational amplifier technology. The comparison output generates a pulse width modulated signal which produces ON and OFF intervals that vary with the control voltage.
