Abstract: The rapid advancement of wearable technology has paved the way for enhanced personal safety solutions, particularly in high-risk environments such as construction sites, industrial workplaces and motorcycling. This paper presents the design and implementation of a Smart Helmet and Safety System that integrates multiple sensors and-communication -technologies to ensure-real~ time monitoring and accident prevention. Road accidents involving two-wheeler riders are a major cause of injuries and fatalities worldwide, often due to delayed emergency response and lack of effective safety monitoring systems. The Design and Development of an loT-Based Smart Helmet for Rider Safety and Accident Detection aims to enhance rider safety by integrating advanced sensing, communication and tracking technologies into a conventional helmet. The proposed system utilizes sensors such as accelerometers, vibration sensors, helmetwearing detection sensors and alcohol sensors to continuously monitor rider conditions and detect potential accident situations. A microcontroller processes the sensor data and ensures proper helmet usage while supporting intelligent decision- making for safety-related events .In the event of an accident, the system automatically detects the impact, determines the rider's location using a GPS module and sends emergency alert messages containing location details to predefined contacts and emergency services through wireless communication networks. The loTenabled architecture also facilitates real-time data transmission and cloud- based monitoring for improved accident management and analysis. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed smart helmet provides reliable accident detection, rapid emergency notification and enhanced rider protection. The system offers a cost- effective and practical solution for reducing accident-related fatalities and improving road safety in modern intelligent transportation environments. The proposed smart helmet offers a cost-effective, user-friendly and scalable solution for enhancing road safety, reducing accident response time and minimizing accidentrelated injuries and fatalities. Furthermore the system can be extended with advanced features with smart transportation infrastructures, making it a promising technology for future intelligent mobility and road safety applications.
