MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411092561 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, An Indian on November 22, 2024, for Depolymerization Of Polyolefin Into Linear Aliphatic Aldehyde (laa) Via Copper-Catalysed Dehydrogenation.
Inventors include Nagaraju Barsu; and Ganeshdev Padhi.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The presentinvention discloses a process for depolymerization of polyolefin into C11-C23 linear aliphatic carbonyl (LAC) by (a)dehydrogenating polyolefin chain using copper catalyst in presence of catalytic oxidant to obtain an unsaturated polyolefin product; and then (b)treating the product with ruthenium catalyst and oxidant in presence of suitable solvent to obtain C11-C23 linear aliphatic carbonyl (LAC).
