MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641103826 A) filed by Chennai Institute Of Technology on August 28, 2026, for Deployable Underground Emergency Transit Infrastructure With Intelligent Autonomous Access Control.
Inventors include Dr. C. Chellaswamy; Dr. V. Samuthira Pandi; Dr. A. Muniyappan; and Dr. T. S. Arulananth.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The titled invention discloses a deployable underground emergency transit infrastructure comprising pneumatic support cylinders (101), pneumatic telescopic cylinders (102), pneumatic barriers (103), emergency vehicle (104), tunnel opener (105), warning speaker (106), display unit (107), safety barriers (108), underground tunnel (109), and long arm (110). The tunnel opener (105) remains closed during normal traffic operation and forms a substantially flat roadway surface. Upon detection of an authorized emergency vehicle (104), warning signals are provided through the warning speaker (106) and display unit (107), while the long arm (110), pneumatic support cylinders (101), pneumatic telescopic cylinders (102), pneumatic barriers (103), and safety barriers (108) operate to isolate the tunnel entrance. The tunnel opener (105) is then lifted to expose the underground tunnel (109) and provide a safe passage for the emergency vehicle (104). After the vehicle enters the tunnel, the tunnel opener (105) is closed and the barriers are retracted, restoring the roadway for normal traffic operation.
