MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531003015 A) filed by Tezpur University on January 13, 2025, for Dengue 2 Virus Infection Detection Kit Based On Paper Capacitance Using Inclined Comb Electrode Structure.

Inventors include Dr. Partha Pratim Sahu; Mr. Geethartha Sarma; and Dr. Biswajyoti Borkakoti.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: Dengue 2 virus infection detection kit based on paper capacitance using inclined comb electrode structure A point-of-care(PoC) detection kit for testing of dengue virus infection within time less than 150s using a small amount of blood serum sample comprises a paper based capacitor sensor(101) including a comb structure of inclined electrode fingers(104) fabricated on filter paper with a sensing region comprising of co-acting said inclined electrode fingers and conductive media of gel based Naringin sensing material having selectivity for dengue virus NS1 glycoprotein for generating detectable capacitance values indicative of detection of the dengue virus. Naringin sensing material comprises 0.3 gm naringin in 10 ml PVA solution and said capacitor sensor provides for sensor capacitance comprising of interior capacitance(Ci) and Edge Capacitance (CE).The detection range of the lowest and highest value of capacitance as ~ 126 µF and 220µF with dengue+ve blood serum samples and the lowest and highest value of capacitance of the sensor with dengue–ve blood serum samples as 234µF and 330µF.
