MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641070738 A) filed by Blubble Private Limited on June 06, 2026, for Degradation-Aware Method And System For State Of Charge Estimation In Second-Life Battery Systems.
Inventors include Vignesh S; and Reddy Pidapa Sudhindra.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a degradation-aware method and Battery Management System for State of Charge estimation in a second-life battery system. The invention acquires battery-operating data comprising cell voltage, module voltage, pack voltage, battery current, temperature data, cycle-related data and balancing- status data through sensing circuitry. An initial State of Charge is determined using Open Circuit Voltage reference information corrected according to temperature condition, effective battery capacity and degradation condition. The State of Charge is updated during charging and discharging operation using degradation-aware charge integration with dynamically updated effective-capacity and coulombic-efficiency values. Incremental Capacity Analysis is performed using measured electrical parameters to extract electrochemical peak characteristics corresponding to battery degradation behaviour and to update degradation-correction parameters. The invention further identifies weakest-cell conditions for adaptive battery management and enables balancing control, protection control and battery operation control in Battery Energy Storage System applications.
