The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a decentralized IPv6-native peer-to-peer file sharing system and method configured to enable efficient content discovery and direct file transfer without requiring centralized servers, trackers, or cloud infrastructure. The system comprises adaptive peer nodes that automatically assume light-node or full- node roles based on available memory resources. Network admission is achieved through invite codes containing bootstrap peer information, thereby facilitating decentralized peer onboarding. Participating nodes extract IPv6 address prefixes and organize themselves into locality-aware communication rings according to prefix similarity. Peer information and file metadata are periodically exchanged to maintain network awareness. Upon receiving a file request, the system performs a nearest- ring-first search operation, initially querying local communication rings and progressively expanding the search to additional rings until the requested content is located. The invention provides scalable, bandwidth-efficient, locality-optimized, and fully decentralized file sharing across heterogeneous IPv6-enabled devices.
