Abstract: The smart power grid with efficient energy management and reliability is one of the most important integrations. In this paper, we discuss the technique of data mining for load forecasting and anomaly detection in smart grids. In this study, using historical data, the ARIMA model helps us give future load forecasts. The expected load will serve as the benchmark for detecting anomalies that could point to the possibility of faults or unauthorized usage and operational inefficiencies. To build our confidence in our methodology, we also apply it on a real-world dataset, showing the accuracy of the ARIMA model in identifying anomalies through statistical thresholds and pattern analysis. The results also reveal that this method improves the reliability of the grid and proactive measures can be taken ahead in making a more robust power distribution grid. Further, the findings from this research will certainly encourage further improvements in advanced analytics used for the operations of the grid.
