Abstract: Electric Vehicles (EVs) are considered as a future transportation model due to their eco-friendly nature. The enhancement in the penetration of EVs requires developing new Charging Stations (CSs) to satisfy the requirement. The EV charging has a negative influence on the distributive device and also the system malfunction results in the power unavailability to charge the EVs. Because of the system failures, the EVs become charged less, which is not considered in the previous experiments. Integrating the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) mechanisms into CS enhances the reliability of the system. However, a disjointed model for charging infrastructure planning fails to notice the collaboration among the transportation and energy ecosystems. This demands a coordinated mechanism for developing the infrastructure that leverages the merits of emerging from the EVs convergence, transport planning, and renewable energy. Though the current efforts try to tune the positioning of renewable-powered EV charging stations, the present planning approaches encounter complexities when employed on the large and complex city scale as well as combined with renewable energy resources. Therefore, it is significant to tackle distinct problems faced in the existing optimal charging station placement approaches for EVs by developing novel mechanisms. A comprehensive charging framework including fast and slow CS is significant to support the enhancing number of EVs in Kerala. However, there are distinct challenges to place the EV CS in Kerala including not enough suitable locations, grid capacity, cost, and awareness. This article employs the new optimal EV charging station placement model for urban regions of Kerala state. In the developed framework, various decision variables like CS location for the candidate location in the set, faster CSs, slower CSs, number of faster charging points and slower charging points are tuned using developed Rejuvenated Frilled Lizard Optimization (RFLO). The main objective of the developed framework is to reduce the installation cost, operation cost, and also maintenance costs such as Network Power Loss (NPL) cost and EV user cost. Further, various validations are performed in the developed technique to detect its performance over the conventional models.
