Abstract: ABSTRACT CYLINDRICAL LITHIUM-ION CELL WITH MONOLITHIC T-SHAPED CENTRAL CORE FOR INTEGRATED THERMAL, STRUCTURAL, AND GAS MANAGEMENT A cylindrical lithium-ion cell system (100) comprising a monolithic T-shaped central core (106) positioned along the central axis of a jelly- roll electrode assembly (104). The T-shaped central core (106) a hollow vertical stem section forming a gas conduit and a hollow horizontal cross-member section forming a small gas chamber beneath a primary cell vent. The T-shaped central core (106) functions as a positive electrical terminal, a structural reinforcement element providing resistance to axial and radial compressive forces, a heat sink conducting thermal energy from the center of the jelly roll electrode assembly (104), and a two- stage gas management system ensuring unobstructed venting during fault conditions. The horizontal section provides a physical backstop preventing the jelly roll electrode assembly (104) from swelling and obstructing the vent. The system (100) employs a reversed polarity configuration with the cylindrical outer casing (102) as the negative terminal.
