MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541016655 A) filed by Ola Electric Mobility Limited on February 25, 2025, for Current Controlled Regenerative Braking For High State- Of-Charge Battery.
Inventors include Aggarwal, Bhavish; Kumar, Bittu; and Pattanaik, Biswajit.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT CURRENT CONTROLLED REGENERATIVE BRAKING AT HIGH STATE-OF-CHARGE (SOC) OF A BATTERY Approaches for current controlled regenerative braking in electric vehicles 5 at high battery state of charge (SOC) levels are described. The electric vehicle includes a control unit configured to facilitate a brake-by-wire system and to manage a protection circuit integrated with the brake-by-wire system to enable energy recovery during regenerative braking regardless of the value of thd battery SOC. In an example, the protection circuit includes a 10 storage capacitor configured to store excess voltage during high-SOC regenerative braking, and a DC-DC converter configured to step down an input voltage from the storage capacitor to a predefined voltage for powering one or more peripheral components of the electric vehicle. The protection circuit further includes a plurality of switches which are selectively controlled 15 by the control unit to direct regenerative braking power among the battery, the storage capacitor, the DC-DC converter, and peripheral components connected to the protection circuit.
