The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a curcumin oil-based nanoemulsion gel for management of diabetic foot ulcer and wound healing. Curcumin, despite possessing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and wound-healing properties, exhibits poor aqueous solubility and limited pharmaceutical delivery. The invention provides a nanoemulsion-based topical delivery system wherein curcumin is incorporated into a pharmaceutically acceptable oil phase and stabilized using a surfactant and co-surfactant system. The optimized nanoemulsion was subsequently incorporated into a biocompatible hydrogel matrix to improve wound-site residence and provide controlled drug release. The developed formulation exhibited nanoscale droplet formation, acceptable physicochemical characteristics, high curcumin incorporation, controlled release, antioxidant activity and antimicrobial activity. The formulation further demonstrated enhanced cellular migration, collagen deposition and wound closure in experimental wound-healing evaluation. The combination of nanoemulsion technology and hydrogel-based topical delivery provides improved dispersion and prolonged local availability of curcumin and is useful for localized management of diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds.
