Abstract: A cultivation method (100) for entomopathogenic fungi includes a collection step (102) of gathering fungus-infected insects from a field within 48 hours, a medium preparation step (104) of preparing and sterilizing a solid isolation medium (302), an isolation step (106) of transferring collected fungi onto plates of the solid isolation medium (302) and incubating at 20-23 degrees Celsius, a liquid propagation step (108) of growing the resulting isolate in a liquid propagation medium (312) to form a fungal broth, a substrate charging step (110) of loading a solid-state grain substrate (324) and distilled water (336) into a cultivation vessel (204), a sterilization step (112) of autoclaving the charged cultivation vessel (204) at 121 degrees Celsius and 15 psi, a cooling step (114) of bringing the sterilized solid-state grain substrate (324) to room temperature, an inoculation step (116) of adding the fungal broth to the cooled solid-state grain substrate (324), an incubation step (118) of holding the inoculated cultivation vessel (204) at 20-23 degrees Celsius, and a recovery step (120) of recovering hyphal growth and fungal stock from the incubated solid-state grain substrate (324).
