MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511020844 A) filed by Sterlite Technologies Limited on March 07, 2025, for Crosstalk Characterization In Multicore Fiber.
Inventors include Pramod Mishra; Shekhar Saxena; Dr. Annesha Maity; and Dr. Arvind Mishra.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical fiber communication system, specifically an apparatus (100) for measuring inter-core crosstalk in a multicore fiber (102) comprises a fan-in device (104) at one end of the multicore fiber to transmit reference signals into each core, with each signal having a unique wavelength and corresponding input power level. A fan-out device (106) at the other end of the multicore fiber receives a combined signal from each core, containing multiple wavelengths influenced by crosstalk from neighboring cores. The apparatus includes one or more de-multiplexers (108) to separate individual wavelengths from the combined signal and a detector (110) to measure the output power level of each wavelength. A signal processing unit (112) correlates the measured output power levels with their respective input power levels to calculate the inter-core crosstalk.
