MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611117324 A) filed by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on September 30, 2026, for Cricket-Bat Contact Sensing System.
Inventors include Dr. Alka Gupta; and Gaurav Tiwari.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is a cricket-bat contact sensing system comprising a flexible sensing strip conformally coupled along an edge surface of a cricket-bat blade. The sensing strip comprises an electrospun piezoelectric nanofibre mat formed from polyvinylidene fluoride and cellulose acetate recovered from cleaned waste cigarette- butt filter material, a flexible supporting substrate, and electrically isolated sensing segments defined by respective electrode portions on opposing sides of the nanofibre mat. A flexible protective encapsulation covers the sensing segments while transferring mechanical strain from the edge surface to the nanofibre mat. An electronic acquisition circuit independently receives piezoelectric transients from the sensing segments. Segment-specific responses generated by deformation of the nanofibre mat are used to determine occurrence and location of ball contact along the edge surface.
