Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention describes a computer-based system and method for explainable sports officiating using a Dynamic Hierarchical Temporal Causal Event Graph (DHTCEG) and rule-based decision making. The system collects synchronized video streams of a sporting event, detects and tracks sports-related objects, and extracts basic sports events shown through temporal, spatial, and confidence attributes. The extracted events are organized into a changing hierarchical graph with event nodes and edges that represent temporal relationships, causal dependencies, object interactions, and rule constraints. The system also conducts graph verification, graph repair, confidence propagation, and rule-based reasoning to produce officiating decisions. An explainability module goes through the verified graph to create a clear reasoning path for each decision. This framework allows for structured event reasoning, dynamic graph updates, and clear decision making for automated sports officiating. It is suitable for cricket and other sports that need to analyze events over time and require rule-based decision support. Total Number of Words in Abstract:129
