MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641127044 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 25, 2026, for Counterfactual Causal Arbitration System For Autonomous Multi-Agent Conflict Localization, Minimal Intervention, Stability Verification, And Adaptive Memory.

Inventors include Dr. Nirmala M; M S Shabreena; and Dhinesh Babu L D.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a Counterfactual Causal Arbitration Fabric (CCAF) for predictive and causality-aware arbitration among heterogeneous autonomous computational agents. The CCAF transforms proposed agent operations into machine-processable Arbitration State Capsules and constructs a Causal Conflict Tensor representing relationships among agents, execution-state variables, conflicts, and temporal stages. A Counterfactual Execution Fork Generator generates alternative execution trajectories before actual commitment, enabling a Conflict-Origin Localization Engine to identify an execution-state transition causally associated with a predicted conflict. A Minimum State-Intervention Synthesis Engine generates a reduced corrective intervention while preserving computational intent and unaffected workflow states. The intervention is subjected to Conflict-Invariant Verification and Temporal Conflict-Horizon Simulation before an Arbitration Stability Certificate authorizes execution. Actual execution is compared with predicted counterfactual behavior to determine divergence. The divergence updates a Causal Intervention Graph and an Arbitration Genome, thereby continuously improving subsequent arbitration. The invention enables proactive conflict resolution, temporal stability verification, localized workflow adaptation, and adaptive multi-agent coordination.
