Abstract: A core-shell electrospun nanofiber wound dressing is disclosed, comprising coaxially electrospun nanofibers having a hydrophobic polyurethane core encapsulating a flavonoid-enriched fraction of lyophilised Psidium guajava leaf extract, and a hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol shell encapsulating a phenolic-acid-and-tannin-enriched fraction of the same extract. The said two fractions are obtained by silica-gel column chromatography of the aqueous extract lyophilised under optimised conditions of 0.02 bar vacuum, twenty-four hours of freezing and forty-eight hours of primary drying. The said dressing exhibits a synergistic biphasic release in which sixty to seventy percent of the shell-borne phenolic acids and tannins are released within twenty-four hours while the core-borne flavonoids are released over five to ten days, matching the inflammatory and proliferative phases of cutaneous wound healing and producing wound closure, collagen deposition and growth-factor expression that exceed the arithmetic sum of the eff
