Inventors include Miss. Rutuja Gumathannavar; Dr. Atul Kulkarni; Mr. Milind Limaye; and Dr. Aniket Limaye.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT COPPER-LOADED CHITOSAN NANOCOMPOSITE FOR POULTRY FEED MICRONUTRIENT DELIVERY A poultry feed micronutrient composition comprising copper-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (CSNP-Cu) and a method for preparation thereof are disclosed. The nanocomposite is synthesised through ionic gelation of chitosan followed by complexation with copper ions. The CSNP-Cu exhibits a hydrodynamic diameter of approximately 381.54 nm, an average particle size of 225 plus or minus 25 nm, a zeta potential of +41.10 mV confirming colloidal stability, and a copper content of up to 22.40 percent with a synthesis yield of 95.29 percent. Biocompatibility studies demonstrate cell viability exceeding 100 percent at concentrations up to 125 micrograms per millilitre and maintenance of intestinal epithelial barrier integrity. The nanocomposite provides enhanced copper bioavailability, mucoadhesive intestinal delivery, and efficient micronutrient supplementation for improved poultry growth, immune function, and health. [
