Abstract: The present invention is directed to copolymers based on methyl methacrylate and a norbornene type monomer having increased heat resistance, high transparency and low haze values. Further, the invention relates to moulding compositions comprising the inventive copolymer and to a process for easy production of the inventive copolymer by radical polymerisation. The moulding compositions of the present invention are highly suitable for the manufacturing of moulded articles, that can be used as optical elements in various optical devices, e.g. as light guides or lamp covers.
