Abstract: Abstract Coordinated Internal-Curing and Matrix-Densification Cementitious Composition The present invention relates to a coordinated internal-curing and matrix densification cementitious composition comprising cement, aggregates, water, potassium polyacrylate and Alccofine. Potassium polyacrylate absorbs and retains a portion of water within the cementitious matrix to establish distributed internal water reservoirs and progressively releases the retained water during hydration. Alccofine partially replaces cement and promotes micro-void filling, secondary hydration and pore refinement. The coordinated operation of internal moisture release and matrix densification maintains moisture availability for continued hydration while promoting development of a dense hardened matrix. In a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises approximately 0.20% potassium polyacrylate by weight of cement and approximately 20% Alccofine as cement replacement. The composition provides improved compressive strength, split tensile strength, reduced water absorption and permeability, and reduced dependence on conventional external water curing.
