MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088551 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Cooling Fabric System Having Phase-Change Domains Regenerated By A Radiative Outer Layer.
Inventors include Rakesh Kumar; and Indrajeet Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A cooling fabric system (100) has, from the sky-facing face inward, an outer layer (10) that is solar-reflective, emissive from 8 to 13 micrometres and vapour- permeable; a spreader network (20) conducting principally in the plane of the fabric; discrete phase-change domains (30) separated by vapour channels (34); and an inner wicking layer (40). The network (20) touches both the domains (30) and the outer layer (10), so latent heat absorbed on melting is carried laterally and radiated to the sky and the domains re-solidify in service, instead of saturating as a conventional phase-change garment does. The channels (34) keep the vapour path open and leave the network in contact with the inner wicking layer (40).
